Fall Essential Oil Blend Recipes

As we approach fall, I find myself thinking pretty much nonstop about cooler weather, cozy sweaters, and delicious fall smells. Fall is my favorite season and one of my favorite parts of it are definitely the warm, spicy smells it entails.

(We won’t talk about the fact that it’s still in the 90s where I live. We pretend we have an actual fall here by staying in the AC and lighting our candles and drinking our iced pumpkin spice lattes.)

While I cannot resist a good fall themed candle around this time of year, I do tend to limit my use of candles due to concerns about the low levels of toxic chemicals candles emit. One of my favorite ways to bring the cozy smells into my home without candles is to diffuse essential oils.

Today I’m going to share with you my favorite fall essential oil blend recipes that can be used in the diffuser, a reed diffuser, a natural room spray or even in a perfume-type roll on. The recipes I’ve listed are specifically designed for diffusing with high potency essential oils and average/medium sized diffusers in mind. You can scale them up for other applications if you’d like.

Citrus Spice

ORANGE - CINNAMON - GINGER

I love the smell of ginger in an oil blend because it gives just that hint of spice you need to really make a beautiful scent. This combination is just perfect and refreshing.

Into the Woods

CEDARWOOD - CINNAMON - SANDALWOOD

Cedarwood is one of my favorite oils in general, but especially in the fall and winter. It just has that sweet, woodsy smell you can’t beat. Combine that with sandalwood and a little spice and you might as well be sitting in a woodshop on a rainy day.

Pumpkin Spice

ORANGE - CINNAMON - CLOVE

You always have to include a pumpkin spice blend when you’re talking about fall. If you don’t like or have clove, you can certainly leave that out, but I think it gives it the little bit this recipe needs to be the perfect “pumpkin spice” smell.

Fresh Air

FRANKINCENSE - EUCALYPTUS - LAVENDER - ROSEMARY

This is one I love when I don’t want the “spicy” or citrus type smells and prefer something a little more fresh, like going for a walk in the crisp, cool air. If you don’t have frankincense, sandalwood or douglas fir make a great replacement.

Forest Walk

BERGAMOT - CEDARWOOD - EUCALYPTUS

Like I said, I looooove cedarwood. If you’re looking for something a little less straight up trees, cedarwood paired with a little citrus and a little fresh is a killer combination.

I hope you try these essential oil blends this fall! If you do, let me know what you think of them!
